Verona Park: Verona, NJ

Verona Park is located in Verona and is part of the Essex County Parks System. It’s a large park (over 50 acres!) with a 13-acre lake, boathouse and many more amenities.

This park is one of my favorite places to take engagement, wedding and other event photos because there are many picturesque spots on the property. There’s a large fountain, a gorgeous willow tree, a romantic stone bridge, and a small brick house. A stream runs through the north-end of the park and there’s a neat metal bridge and flowering trees in the spring months. “Idyllic” doesn’t even begin to describe it! It’s a bit isolated from the highway, but the distance is worth it. Continue Reading

The Ins and Outs of Engagement Photos

Once he’s popped the question, things start happening really fast. There’s, of course, a wedding to plan and you have quite a few decisions to make. You have to find a venue, choose a caterer, and start working on your color scheme/theme. Whether your wedding is in a year or just a few months, time feels limited.

The Name Game

The choice of whether or not to assume the name of your spouse wasn’t a common concern even just a few decades ago in the United States. In fact, a vast majority of women throughout the English-speaking world naturally (and legally) assumed their husband’s name after marriage.

But that wasn’t the case throughout the world. To this day, countries like France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Greece either require a woman keeps the name on her original birth certificate or use her husband’s name only if she so desires.

There are a multitude of reasons why a woman, or even man for that matter, may choose to assume the name of a spouse (we’ll save all that for another article). However, you’re probably more interested in the “how” as opposed to the “why.” Continue Reading

The Perfect Wedding Invite

Wedding invitation styles can vary greatly depending on factors such as your personal style, wedding theme, and budget. But while the background and font are variable, the content on your wedding invitation shouldn’t be.

Leave any extra flair to your wedding programs and decor and instead, focus on adding only the essential information to your invitations. Continue Reading

Think Outside the Box When it Comes to Wedding Food

Not so long ago, you’d find just about the same food at every wedding you attended. Sit-down, plated dinners were the norm and anything else just wouldn’t fly. Every now and then, a bride may have considered offering just heavy hors devours and calling it a day, but even if the thought crossed her mind, it was likely shot down by her parents or friends.

But thankfully, times have changed.

Today, a Mrs.-to-be is more focused than ever on making sure that her wedding is a reflection of her and her spouse and not some silly expectation. And guess what? We love it! Continue Reading
